Cloud9 made a great start to the LoL 2023 season for the North American teams by defeating 100 Thieves in the first match.
The LoL 2023 season started for the North American teams and Cloud9 are one of them. The first match of the LCS 2023 Spring Season was between C9 and 100 Thieves. 100T signed Bjergsen and Doublelift and looked impressive on paper but they lost their first official match together. C9 on the other hand looked solid with the new mid laner Diplex on the rift.
Cloud9 LoL 2023 Roster
- Ibrahim “Fudge” Allami
- Robert “Blaber” Huang
- Dimitri “Diplex” Ponomarev
- Kim “Berserker” Min-cheol
- Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen
During the off-season, C9 only made one change and signed the young mid laner Diplex from Europe. The German player replaced Jensen, who is one of the most experienced players in the region. On his debut, Diplex had a great Akali performance. He competed against Bjergsen, one of the most respected mid laners in the world, and popped off in the later stages of the competition. He also had a great synergy with Blaber on the first match of his Cloud9 LoL 2023 journey.

Cloud9 dominated the first LoL 2023 game from the beginning. Apart from the mid-jungle synergy, C9 players also had better performances individually. It looks like keeping the majority of the roster from last season was a great choice by the organization. Berserker and Zven’s chemistry is still better than most of the other players and the team uses Fudge’s individual efforts a lot.
It is very early in the LoL 2023 scene to be talking factually but Cloud9 surely made a great start to the season. Even the first week is still not done yet but if they keep their chemistry like this, they are one of the favorites for the trophy. C9 will come up against Golden Guardians on the second day of the first week while 100 Thieves will face Immortals.
