Cloud9 have officially locked in their roster for the 2022 LCS Season after a busy offseason.
In an announcement video released by the organization, Cloud9’s roster will be:
- Top: Park “Summit” Woo-tae
- Jungle: Rober “Blaber” Huang
- Mid: Ibrahim “Fudge” Allami
- ADC: Kim “Berzerker” Min-cheol
- Support: Kim “Winsome” Dong-keon/Jonah “Isles” Rosario
Cloud9 went through several changes during the offseason. Most notably: the loss of Luca “Perkz” Percovic who will be returning to the LEC to play for a rumored Team Vitality. In addition, Phillipe “Vulcan” Laflamme will be joining LCS team Evil Geniuses and coach Alfonso “Mithy” Aguirre Rodríguez is rumored to be joining 100 Thieves as an assistant coach.
Summit comes to the LCS from LCK team Liiv Sandbox. Summit was recognized in the third all-pro team for the LCK’s Summer Awards as well as shown to be a top performer in the LCK against players such as Kim ‘Khan’ Dong-ha and Kim ‘Canna’ Chang-dong.
Blaber remains with C9 after a dominant spring split where he earned his second MVP Award as well as represented NA at both MSI and Worlds 2021. Crab memes aside, Blaber is a strong jungler and will be an integral part of the team’s success.
Roleswapping from top lane to mid lane is Fudge. Fudge struggled in the early 2021 season but proved himself to be a top performer in the top lane while simultaneously winning the inaugural FPX Most Improved Player Award.
Joining from T1 Challengers is Beserker – a young ADC prodigy with a high ceiling and potential for the team. The video also explained that Jesper ‘Zven’ Svenningsen will still remain with C9 and can be called up on if needed.
Finally, a decision has yet to be made with the support position. However, two talented supports in Winsome and Isles will be competing for the spot while also potentially having a six man lineup. Winsome comes from the LCK Amateur scene but was born in the US leaving an import spot available. Isles is coming from Cloud9’s Academy team where he had success placing highly in both Spring and Summer Proving Ground tournaments.
At this moment, Cloud9’s coaching staff has not been confirmed yet. Rumors have spiraled with Nick “LS” De Cesare potentially joining from his stint with T1 as a streamer. The team also has Kim “Reignover” Yeu-jin and Maxwell Alexander “Max Waldo” Waldo who will both play an integral part to the team’s successes this year.
