The Citadel in Destiny 2 is a classic multiplayer map that will make its return for the grand finale of the current format.
With Destiny 2 switching to an episodic format after the end of the current expansion, it’s going all out on nostalgia to make for an entertaining end.

Citadel Destiny 2: What is it
The Citadel was a Crucible map. It was located in the the Dreaming City in the Reef.
Best suited for four-versus-four, the Citadel works best for the Control and Breakthrough game modes.
Control is a zone control mode where two opposing teams try to control three areas in the map. Meanwhile, Breakthrough is a territory tug-of-war mode where both teams fight over a neutral zone, which then allows them to attack the opponent’s base.
It was introduced in the major Forsaken expansion, the third expansion of Destiny 2.
With the fifth expansion Beyond Light, the Citadel entered the legacy content vault. This meant it was no longer available to play.
However, with the final season of Destiny 2, the Crucible will now return to the active map pool.

Is Season of the Wish the last season?
Developer Bungie has confirmed that Season of the Wish will be the final season for Destiny 2.
Season of the Wish is the 23rd season of Destiny 2. It is the fourth and final seasonal content of Lightfall, the seventh annual pass expansion.
After Season of the Wish, Destiny 2 will be switching to an Episodes system for future expansions.
The new system will begin with The Final Shape, which is the eighth expansion and the finale of what Bungie terms The Light and Darkness Saga. This saga is the summation of all the Destiny content thus far.
As The Final Shape is delayed until June 4 2024, this means that Season of the Wish will also be the longest Destiny season.
