The largest collegiate esports festival, Collegiate Esports Commissioner’s Cup Texas (CECC Texas), is set to return this year at Esports Stadium Arlington, promising an action-packed weekend of competitive gaming, awards, and onsite activities.
Esports Festival Welcomes 64 Teams Across Four Gaming Titles
From May 6-7, 2023, CECC Texas, presented by McDonald’s, will host 64 teams from multiple conferences and associations across North America. Participants will compete in four popular gaming titles: Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, Overwatch 2, Rocket League, and VALORANT. Notably, the event will feature the first all-women’s team, a historic HBCU program, several nationally ranked programs, and a Service Academy.

Tickets On Sale for “May Madness” Weekend
Fans can purchase weekend and single-day passes at www.cecc.gg. In addition to the main tournament, attendees will enjoy a variety of onsite activities, such as the Collegiate Esports Awards, middle/high school tournaments, Vendor Village, Partner Activations, Cosplay Costume Contests, Esports Celebrity Meet & Greets, and Omega Strikers and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournaments.
McDonald’s Partners with CECC Texas
McDonald’s has played a vital role in building excitement and awareness for CECC Texas through promotions and giveaways on the McDonald’s App. Furthermore, McDonald’s is sponsoring Howard University, the first Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) team to compete at CECC Texas. Fans can also win a free custom @McDonalds PC built by @PCGamerzHawaii by downloading the McDonald’s App and completing an official contest form.

Red Carpet Ceremony and Branded Jerseys
The event will kick off on May 5 with a private red carpet ceremony for all 64 teams. During the ceremony they will receive McDonald’s branded jerseys to wear during CECC Texas. These jerseys will be unveiled to the public for the first time.
Esports Weekend Offers More Than Just Competition
Angela Bernhard Thomas, Chief Esports Officer for CSMG/ESPORTSU, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming event, saying, “We can’t wait to welcome the student-athletes, coaches, and fans from across North America to CECC Texas.” She emphasized that the festival-like atmosphere aims to provide more than just competition. The event also offers a variety of activities for esports athletes and fans to enjoy throughout the weekend.
Cliff Johnson, II, North Texas McDonald’s Owner/Operator, echoed these sentiments. He stated, “Just as McDonald’s has created so many memories for people of all ages, we look forward to building new ones during CECC Texas with the players and fans.”
