If you’ve been itching to explore the grim world of Warhammer 40K: Darktide all on your own, you might wonder: Can you play Darktide solo? Let’s break it down
Can you play Darktide solo?
As of now, Darktide doesn’t offer a solo mode. The developers are working hard, hopefully, to add this feature, but it’s not ready yet. So, if you want to brave the darkness solo, you’ll have to wait a bit longer.
But there is a similar way to make the Emperor proud: private games! While solo play isn’t an option, you can still team up with friends without disturbing by outsiders.
What are private games in Warhammer 40K: Darktide?
Private games in Warhammer 40K: Darktide allow you to create a game session that’s exclusively for you and your chosen companions. Instead of joining a public match with random players, you have the option to play with friends or trusted allies in a more controlled environment.
Here is the catch: You need at least two group members, including you. Otherwise, you will see this error:

Private games offer several benefits. Firstly, they provide a way to play with friends without the risk of random players joining and potentially disrupting your game. Additionally, private matches can be a more relaxed and enjoyable experience, allowing you to focus on teamwork and strategy without the distractions of unfamiliar players.
Most importantly, you can easily complete penances!

How to play private games in Warhammer 40K: Darktide
Starting a private game in Darktide is straightforward. When you spawn into the Mourningstar, head to the Mission Terminal located at the opposite end. Once there, press ‘E’, then switch the “Private Game” toggle on.

If you change your mind and prefer to join a public match, you can follow the same steps to reverse it.
Why Warhammer 40K: Darktide doesn’t have solo mode?
Warhammer 40K: Darktide doesn’t offer solo mode because it focuses on multiplayer. Although I am a regular Darktide gamer, I have to say this game is unfinished.
Yes, it is really a good successor to the Warhammer: Vermintide series. There are no pay-to-win mechanics, and the missions are quite fun. However, the game has some absences, like the solo mode.
In the future, Darktide solo mode may be added, but meanwhile, you can make the Emporer proud with your friends!
