The next iteration of Activision’s yearly shooter will be officially revealed later this week, as Call of Duty Vanguard returns to World War 2, specifically Verdansk.
World War 2 Comes to Verdansk
The first teaser trailer for the hotly anticipated shooter, set in World War 2, has been released by Activision alongside an announcement that players will be able to get a first look at the game during a special live event.
Sledgehammer Games and current Warzone custodians Raven Software are keeping their cards close to their chest, with more details about the Call of Duty: Vanguard event likely to be teased in the build-up. What we know so far is that this will be a live event, similar to the Fall of Verdansk event, which resulted in Warzone jumping back in time to the ’80s. It is expected that this event will kick-start an in-game season that looks to emulate a similar time jump back to WW2 and possibly a relocation over to a new map with the launch of the new title.
It is unclear if we will be saying goodbye to Verdansk for good, or if the new map will co-exist alongside Verdansk akin to Rebirth Island. Either way, a fresh map is something Warzone has been crying out for, with many fans being disappointed with the mostly cosmetic changes to Verdansk with the previous map overhaul. This event is expected to make everything clear.
How Do I Join?
To join the event, you will need to be logged in to Warzone and in the lobby at 1:30pm PST on the 19th of August. Aim to get there early to avoid disappointment. Once in the lobby, you should see a new custom playlist available to join.
Based on our experiences with the previous Fall of Verdansk event, you will likely have a window to join a lobby and participate in each section of the reveal. But until we have more information, this is all just speculation.
Call of Duty: Vanguard will launch this November on PC, Xbox, and Playstation.
