Team Liquid’s journey continues in the ongoing Lock-In tournament as the super-team defeated Dignitas in a close series. The Dignitas squad was a valiant effort, who took down defending LCS champions 100 Thieves in the previous round, but Team Liquid prevailed 3-1. In particular, New Signing Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau was heavily involved in Team Liquid’s victory and was in the spotlight.
Although Team Liquid won the series, it wasn’t a straightforward path to victory. Game 1 of the series started on an expected note, with Team Liquid leading in the early game. Dignitas’ jungler Kim “River” Dong-woo ganked top lane, but it fired back, and Bwipo managed to secure two kills. It seemed like the game was heading to its end with Team Liquid securing multiple objectives; however, Dignitas was resilient and never backed down. Some mistakes were made in the mid-game by Team Liquid which allowed Dignitas to crawl back into the game. TL then tried to secure Baron Buff but lost the team fight near the pit, which ultimately helped Dignitas to close the game.
Dignitas rode the momentum and continued their impressive start in game 2, racking up early kills. The was leading 7 kills to 3 at one point and was headed towards victory. However, this time, Team Liquid turned the game around with the help of some individual brilliance by Bwipo. Despite kills being relatively equal in the late game, Bwipo’s Gwen became impossible to deal with in the side lane for Dignitas. Furthermore, Hans Sama got a quadra-kill in the late game, which led to them doing Baron, subsequently closing the game.
It was once again a solid start for Dignitas in the third game of the series. The team managed to land early kills but were outclassed in the game’s later stages. It was evident that Team Liquid was coming into its groove, and Dignitas couldn’t push them back anymore. Finally, game 4 was a one-sided affair, with Team Liquid winning all across the map. They secured all the major objectives and won the game, seizing series 3-1.
