Bot Colony _redux continues to make steady progress as its development team leverages new technology to introduce smarter AI, improved visuals, and deeper conversational systems. The upcoming Phase 2 public playtest, scheduled to launch in February 2026 on Steam, will highlight a wide range of upgrades aimed at refining both immersion and player interaction.
Robot and Vehicle Visual Overhaul
After completing a full environmental remaster across all episodes using new Unreal Engine 5.6 features, the developers have now applied the same treatment to every robot and vehicle in the game. This refresh introduces higher detail models, advanced shaders, and subtle environmental wear such as weathered metal, helping robots blend more naturally into their surroundings.
The result is a noticeably more polished visual experience, with bots that feel grounded within the world rather than simply placed inside it.
Faster and More Natural Conversations
One of Bot Colony _redux’s defining features is its real-time conversational AI, allowing players to speak freely to in-game characters. To make those interactions smoother, the team is refactoring the dialogue pipeline to better use streaming technology, significantly reducing response latency.
Faster dialogue responses are key to maintaining immersion, especially in a game built around natural speech. Whether players are issuing mission commands or engaging in casual conversation, the goal is to make interactions feel as close to real-time as possible.
More Flexible Voice Commands
The game’s in-house voice system, known as Perla, is also evolving. Robots now have a deeper understanding of their environment and can interpret more casual, human-style commands. For example, players can say phrases like “Shoot over to the living room,” “Grab the vase,” or “Put it on the table,” and the system will correctly interpret and execute those actions.
Supporting unconstrained speech remains one of the game’s biggest technical challenges, but the team is focused on maximizing flexibility so players can interact naturally without relying on rigid command structures.
New Tutorial Level for First-Time Players
A new “dialogue training” mini-level will serve as the starting point for all new players. This interactive tutorial introduces core mechanics through conversations with the AI assistant Miki-05 and a companion robot named Mindy.
Players will learn how to use features such as Speech-to-Text, dialogue history, text editing, and basic controls. The goal is to make players comfortable with conversational gameplay before they enter the main missions.
Multilingual Conversational Support
Although full localization is planned for after Early Access, Bot Colony _redux is already introducing multilingual support for AI conversations. Players can send messages in languages such as French, German, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, and Korean, and robots will respond in the same language using both text and expressive speech.
Miki-05 can even activate an English Tutor mode, offering a unique way for players to improve their language skills while progressing through the game’s story.
Stronger Robot Personalities with GPT-5
The development team has integrated OpenAI’s GPT-5 series into the conversation system, enhancing each robot’s personality, humor, and role within the narrative. In the game’s storyline, robots have received experimental software that teaches them to “Do As People Do,” resulting in quirky dialogue and unpredictable interactions.
Because conversations are unscripted, players are free to explore almost any topic, making each playthrough feel different and highly personalized.
Preparing for Phase 2
All of these updates, along with additional improvements still in development, are laying the foundation for Phase 2 of Bot Colony _redux’s public playtest. With smarter AI, richer visuals, and deeper interaction systems, the game is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious experiments in conversational gameplay.
Bot Colony _redux Phase 2 will launch on Steam in February 2026, with more updates expected as development continues.
