In the world of Baldur’s Gate 3, the BG3 best Rogue subclass give the stealthy dexterous masterminds special abilities to navigate the world and deal huge damage.
Given how useful rogues are to any party, most players will want to explore the world with one available. Luckily, the default rogue Astarion is a fantastic companion.
At level 3, Rogues get to pick their subclass. Here’s a ranking to help players figure out which is the best.
3) Arcane Trickster
Arcane Trickster is not the third-best as much as it is just the worst subclass. Unfortunately, it’s the default option for Astarion, so players should choose differently as soon as possible.
Its main feature is the Mage Hand Legerdemain, which is intended to give extra benefits to the Mage Hand.
While it should allow the Mage Hand to steal objects, pick locks, and disarm traps, it’s currently unimplemented in the game, so it lacks its main draw.
The next buff at level 9 is Magical Ambush, which gives targets a disadvantage against your spells’ saving throws if you’re hidden.
Even at the level 12 max, Arcane Tricksters cap out at level 2 spells, so they won’t get much damage or utility.
Assassin is the most straightforward choice for burst damage.
Assassins automatically crit against surprised enemies and have an advantage on any enemy that hasn’t taken a turn in combat. Combined, Assassins can hit for enormous Sneak Attack damage.
The Logitech G502 X line features a new way to game with its innovative hybrid switches for speed, precision, and lightweight.
The Assassin’s Alacrity feature regains action and bonus action at the start of combat. As a result, an Assassin can initiate combat with a surprise attack and then follow up instantly.
The level 9 Infiltration Expertise feature is a bit limited as Disguises aren’t that useful in BG3. That being said, the level 3 benefits are enough to make Assassin a worthwhile choice.
Thief is the BG3 best Rogue subclass, both for Rogues but also for other classes looking to multiclass.
The Fast Hands feature gives an extra bonus action. Given the limited action economy, this is massively useful for any character.

The Second-Story Work feature gives resistance to Falling damage, which has limited utility.
At level 9, the Supreme Sneak ability to get Invisibility is also great for escaping or setting up ambushes.
