A few weeks after the release of Black Ops 6 has seen a wide range of reactions with the majority being fairly positive. This got us thinking about the Black Ops series as a whole and the way the series has progressed over its lifespan.
Call of Duty as a whole is one of the biggest and longest-running game series of all time, but when it’s bad, it’s very bad. This has caused a divide with fans as the series has changed and regressed a lot over the last seven years or so. With this in mind, we wanted to look at game series that have stood the test of time and never gone below their own standards.
However, there is a criteria for this, on this list you will only find games that have three or more games in, a two-game series like Red Dead Redemption will undoubtedly not make the cut. With this in mind, let’s look at what we consider to be the best video game series of all time
Mario
Starting with the longest-running and the most iconic, Mario has been a gaming icon since his inception in 1983. His mustache and his red and blue attire have stood the test of time and still happens to be a huge Halloween costume each year!
The games themselves have been chopped and changed over the years, with different variations all being as good as the last. Mario is the face of Nintendo and has been the spearhead for the company for decades now. Some of the highlights of the series include Super Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros, these are iconic and widely considered to be some of the games ever created.
Big Bass Bonanza
Now onto a widely different series the big bass bonanza series is a slot game that is probably the biggest and most popular. The series has had over twenty iterations and has constantly been changed to allow players to have multiple choices, with it having online jackpot games, season-exclusive games and regular variations too. Despite being a slot game, Big Bass deserves its recognition.
Grand Theft Auto
When the GTA VI trailer came out, the internet went into a frenzy and there are only certain series that have this much effect on people and GTA is absolutely one of them. GTA is arguably the most successful game series of all time, and even with the fifth instalment being a decade old, the game still pulls in millions of players a week.
This is a luxury that very few games have to offer and this is thanks to the implementation of the online side of the game. Although the storylines are the reason why the game is so popular, being able to play with friends and other people while causing havoc, is a feature exclusive to the GTA series and a reason why the game kept its popularity for so long.
The Legend Of Zelda
When it comes to game design, you will struggle to find a series that is as good as Zelda. As much as the game series has always looked great and has always been a masterful example of a game having a good and fresh story, the reason why Zelda does so well is because of how it makes you feel.
Zelda is a game that has many sequels, but it never loses what it is and what makes it so loved by players. Whenever you play Zelda, whether it’s your first time or your millionth, you will still have the same feeling. The excitement and the happiness that Zelda can give you means it probably needs a list on its own.
