After ending the LEC Summer 2021 season in seventh place, Astralis made their first roster move, as the team announced that they will not be extending the contract of Swedish mid-laner Carl Felix “MagiFelix” Boström.
Astralis shared a farewell video for the player on Twitter, in which his highlights during the season take place. The team’s coaches also wished him good luck in the video clip.
“MagiFelix has been an important part of the first-ever Astralis season in League of Legends and our new set-up. We thank him for his contribution, professionalism, and dedication to the game and Astralis. On the server, in the office, and as a part of the Astralis Family.” the organization said in the statement.
MagiFelix joined Astralis in February 2021, right after Erlend “Nukeduck” Holm decided to go inactive due to personal issues. In March, the organization extended the 21-year-old mid-laner’s contract and dropped Nukeduck from the roster.
The LEC team was in bad shape when MagiFelix became a member of the roster. They finished the LEC Spring 2021 season as ninth place, but the young mid-laner came to the forefront with his performance.
The story of LEC Summer 2021 was overall similar but slightly better for Astralis. Despite showing off great performances from time to time, they couldn’t qualify for the LEC Summer Playoffs, missing it with only one victory.
MagiFelix started his career in 2016 with EURONICS Gaming. Spending most of his professional career in Europe, he moved to Turkey to join YouthCrew Esports for the 2018 Summer season. The young talent is known for his outstanding individual skills and being a SoloQ monster. However, he hasn’t found a place in Tier-1 teams yet.
“Our goal is to progress and improve our game constantly, and we will announce full details for our 2022 season once everything is in place.” Astralis mentioned in the statement.
Astralis’ League of Legends roster now consists of:
- Matti “WhiteKnight” Sormunen
- Nikolay “Zanzarah” Akatov
- Jesper “Jeskla” Strömberg
- Hampus “promisq” Abrahamsson
