Finding Blackbeard’s Treasure Chest in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced isn’t as straightforward as following the treasure map. Hidden deep inside a cave in Anotto Bay, the treasure requires players to navigate underwater tunnels, defeat enemies, and blast through multiple blocked passages before claiming the reward.
If you’re having trouble locating the chest, here’s everything you need to know.
Unlocking Blackbeard’s Treasure Hunt
Before you can search for the treasure, you’ll need to progress through the main story.
The treasure hunt becomes available after completing Sequence 8: Do Not Go Gently. Once finished, you’ll receive Blackbeard’s Treasure Map, which points toward Anotto Bay in the Charlotte region, located north of Kingston.
If you’ve already discovered Anotto Bay, you can fast travel directly there. Otherwise, prepare for possible naval combat, as enemy ships often patrol the surrounding waters.
How to enter Anotto Bay
The entrance to the treasure cave is hidden beneath the water.
Swim toward the wreckage near Anotto Bay and look for jellyfish, which mark the entrance to an underwater tunnel. Dive inside and carefully make your way through the cave system.
Along the route you’ll encounter:
- Sharks patrolling the tunnel
- Air pockets to replenish your oxygen
- A fork in the path
When the tunnel splits, take the right-hand route to continue toward Blackbeard’s Treasure. The left path only leads to an optional chest.
Eventually you’ll reach a ladder leading into the dry interior of the cave.
Tip
Exploring during daylight makes the underwater section much easier, as improved visibility helps you spot jellyfish, tunnel entrances, and air pockets.
Clear the cave and destroy the blocked walls
After emerging from the water, you’ll enter a smuggler hideout occupied by hostile enemies.
Defeat everyone in the area before continuing.
To reach the treasure, you’ll need to destroy two blocked cave walls using explosive barrels.
First wall
Inside the first large chamber, pick up the nearby red explosive barrel and place it next to the blocked wall.
Move to a safe distance and shoot the barrel to clear the path.
Second wall
Continue deeper into the cave until you reach the waterfall area.
Another explosive barrel can be found nearby. Carry it behind the waterfall, place it beside the second blocked wall, and shoot it to open the final chamber.
Claim Blackbeard’s Treasure Chest
With the second wall destroyed, enter the newly opened room to find Blackbeard’s Treasure Chest waiting inside.
Opening the chest advances the treasure hunt, though you may also notice a locked chest nearby. That additional chest requires a separate key obtained from a specific NPC, so it may not be accessible during your first visit.
Once you’ve collected Blackbeard’s treasure, return to Great Inagua to complete the quest and receive the final reward, including Blackbeard’s portrait.
If you’re aiming for 100% completion, it’s worth finishing the final objective before moving on to your next adventure.
