Recently, Apple introduced the $3,499 Vision Pro AR headset. It’s been delayed, but they finally shared its technology and software and how people can use it. But Apple Vision Pro VR Games is one topic that Apple seldom touched on today.
Apple said the headgear works with Apple Arcade games. This means it can play games made for iPhones, iPads, Mac, and Apple TV. Apple only mentioned this once during the presentation.
Actually, Apple simply displayed the condensed NBA 2K23 Arcade Edition mobile basketball simulation. At the demo, we saw a person playing a game with a PlayStation 5 DualSense controller on a virtual screen.
Will all games on iOS be available on vision pro?
In early 2024, when the Vision Pro comes out, Apple thinks more than 100 of its Apple Arcade games will work with it.
That’s over half of the iOS library in Apple’s subscription service. iOS has many popular games on Apple Arcade, such as Lego Builder’s Journey, Crossy Road+, Sonic Racing, and Disney Melee Mania.
The Apple Arcade library includes several excellent games. Apple showed a list of iOS apps that will work on the gadget, such as Candy Crush Saga and Myst Mobile. You might be able to play these on virtual windows or digital screens in front of you soon.
The visionOS App Store includes Game Room, which has classic dice and chess games, and Super Fruit Ninja. There’s also a version of Rec Room, a platform like Roblox with VR games made by users. However, they were only noted in the App Store UI and not really used.
Apple has shown that the Vision Pro is for 3D immersion, but its first gaming will focus on transferring existing games from flat screens. These will mostly be casual games.
Apple didn’t have VR games as immersive as those on Meta Quest 2 or PC-based VR headsets. Surprisingly, there weren’t any special games that mix real and virtual worlds to make new adventures.
Disney showed some stuff during the presentation. You might be able to play with Marvel’s “What If?” comic book or make a Disney World parade on your kitchen counter. But these were only hints.
Apple Vision Pro Compatible Games
The Vision Pro will come with more than 100 Apple Arcade games when it first launches. The talk didn’t say anything about VR games or if the games they showed were upgraded for VR. Users can play NBA 2K23 on the Vision Pro with controllers connected to their Apple device. It could be more realistic now with “Game mode” in macOS Sonoma, and Apple is supporting developers to move their games to their systems.
Apple’s new augmented reality headgear is expensive but has unique and advanced features. It looks sleek and easy to use compared to their previous attempts at this technology. This makes it more appealing to consumers.
Developers will use this technology to create fun games and engaging experiences.
Apple announced that visionOS will work with Unity engine. Many games and apps on different devices use this engine. Making games just got simpler for developers. They can easily transfer existing games or create new ones using familiar technology.

Apple doesn’t plan to promote the Vision Pro as a gaming device because game demos aren’t strong. The price is high, so only rich people will buy it first.
On the other side, Apple has consistently come under fire for what seems to be a lack of interest in gaming. Mobile gaming became popular, and Apple made money from App Store purchases. However, Apple hasn’t given much support to Mac gaming. It hasn’t seemed to be a top focus for the business at any point.
Apple showcased new tools at the WWDC conference to help game creators port and optimize their games for Apple’s CPUs. Hideo Kojima, the developer of Death Stranding, briefly showed a new version of the game for Mac.
Gaming wasn’t a priority for Apple’s headgear. It may offer new immersive play experiences that other devices don’t have. Meta introduced the metaverse idea, which The Sandbox and Decentraland also support. But Apple ignored it.
