The LPL representatives, RNG have recruited the experienced mid laner Xiang “Angel” Tao for the upcoming season.
After many years, RNG made a very important roster change and parted ways with Li “Xiaohu” Yuan-Hao. Xiaohu joined the organization in 2015 and he left the team at the end of 2022. His spot needed to be filled by Royal Never Give Up and the announcement came today. RNG signed Angel as their new mid laner, who previously left Weibo Gaming. Interestingly, Xiaohu joined Weibo after leaving Royal Never Give Up so both teams made some kind of a player trade.
Current RNG Roster
Angel’s professional gaming career started back in 2017 with Tyloo. Tyloo’s fame mainly came from Counte-Strike: Global Offensive back in the day and they were competing in the second division of the Chinese League of Legends competition. That year, Angel won the LDL trophy with his teammates and made his name known for the first time. He then joined Suning to compete in LPL and spent three years with the organization. During his time at Suning, he changed his role to top lane once when Maple joined the team and also reached the Worlds 2020 Grand Final but lost to DAMWON KIA. Suning’s roster joined the Weibo Gaming organization and it was Angel’s last stop before joining RNG.
Royal Never Give Up lost Xiaohu at the end of the 2022 season, one of the franchise legends alongside the ADC player Uzi. The organization won the MSI 2022 trophy last year and also reached the Worlds 2022 Quarterfinals. Angel might have a lot of weight on his shoulders as he will be replacing the legendary player. Angel and Xiaohu have similarities regarding gameplay and RNG probably made their 2023 plans according to that.
