Although it only gave us eight champions, 2013 gave us some of the most iconic champions in League of Legends to date, including the likes of Thresh, Zac, Jinx and Yasuo!
The previous years gave us well over double this with 24 Champions released in 2011, and 19 Champions released in 2012!
Sadly for all of us in the League of Legends community, 2013 was to be the first year to receive less than ten champions – a trend that hasn’t stopped, and doesn’t look like doing so!
League of Legends Champions released in 2013:

- Thresh – January 23, 2013
- Quinn – March 1, 2013
- Zac – March 29, 2013
- Lissandra – April 30, 2013
- Aatrox – June 13, 2013
- Lucian – August 22, 2013
- Jinx – October 10, 2013
- Yasuo – December 13, 2013

How many Champions were released in 2014?
Annoyingly, Riot Games once again decreased the number of champions we were treated in 2014, going down from 2013’s eight to 6!
The first of these was Vel’Koz at the end of February and the last was another void creature in Rek’Sai in December!
This was the first since the game’s launch that Riot Games hadn’t released a new champion in January – and we had to wait nearly two months for one!

With the latest addition in Milio as the newest enchanter Support, League of Legends has 163 playable champions!
