Every year, EA drops an assortment of players in Ultimate Team that look and play overpowered online. Here are five of the most OP players from FIFA 21 that we’re hoping will be on the receiving end of a nerf when FIFA 22 drops later this year.
Rodrigo (Leeds United)
Rodrigo is certainly a well-respected forward in Europe following his spells with Benfica and Valencia, and has built a reputation in the FIFA 21 community as one of the go-to OP Ultimate Team player cards for those on a tighter budget.
However, in Fifa 21 EA took Rodrigo to the next level with the Spanish striker. Despite his base card only boasting a rating of 82, Rodrigo holds 91 pace, 81 dribbling, 79 shooting, and 76 passing, making him one of the most well-rounded Premier League forwards ranked under 83. That 91 pace is what makes the Spaniard feel like such a potent option in Premier League sides, and at a meager 3,700 coins, it’s clear to see why so many players opt for Rodrigo over other stars ranked higher than him.
Federico Valverde (Real Madrid)
From Koke to Marcos Llorente, La Liga is home to a plethora of gold Ultimate Team players that offer great value for players, however, Real Madrid’s Fede Valverde is where things begin to slide into the ‘overpowered’.
A familiar face for those in FUT Champs, Valverde’s 86 pace is an immediate eye-catcher for a player positioned in the middle of the pitch, however, his 84 reactions, 82 ball control, and 86 stamina all help make the Uruguayan one of the most dynamic midfield options in Ultimate Team. At just 9,000 coins, he’s a figure that most FIFA 21 players are sick of the sight of.
Joe Gomez (Liverpool)
Perhaps the most popular pick in the entire game, Joe Gomez will go down as one of the ‘streets won’t forget’ players in the long history of FIFA titles.
82 pace, 83 defending, and 80 physicality, help make him feel like the optimal center-back option in Ultimate Team over the wide option of other defenders there are to choose from ranked higher than his 83 overall. And at just 7,000 coins, it’s no wonder why the English defender has dominated FIFA 21 for the year.
Moussa Sissoko (Tottenham Hotspur)
EA have seemingly developed an unhealthy obsession over the years of making Tottenham’s Moussa Sissoko an absolute monster in Ultimate Team, but their FIFA 21 player version might just go down as the most OP of the lot.
His market value of roughly 27,000 may seem exceptionally steep for a player only ranked 79 on his base card, however, 78 pace, 77 passing, 78 dribbling, 77 defending and a remarkable 89 physicality are all stats that players are sure to notice online. There are just smatterings of stats everywhere with Sissoko in FIFA 21, and he remains one of the absolute best examples of a player outperforming his rating in-game this year.
Ousmane Dembele (Barcelona)
Much like Sissoko at Spurs, Ousmane Dembele is another example of a player in FIFA who boasts an exceptionally overpowered card in Ultimate Team, despite being an individual often on the fringes at his real-life club.
92 pace, 77 shooting, and passing 86 dribbling, five-star skill moves and a five-star weak foot make him a nightmare in-game for even the highest-rated of defenders. His French nationality also helps generate strong chemistry links with players plying their trade outside of La Liga, but what makes Dembele so overpowered is how, no matter the playstyle, he has all the traits needed to keep opposing players on their toes.
