Brigitte is a hero that typically does not want to deal a lot of damage, but instead, helps her team with her supporting abilities. She can stun enemies to give her teammates an easy kill, heal her allies to keep them in fights longer, and even give them movement speed for more efficient engages. Overall, the hero is very well-rounded and can be very hard to deal with when she is played correctly. However, that does not mean she is unbeatable. There are a few ways for players to overcome Brigitte and secure a win. So, to help players find the characters that can overcome her, here are 3 Overwatch heroes that counter Brigitte.
Brigitte counter #3: Bastion
When looking for a strong damage-oriented hero to pick into Brigitte, Bastion is the perfect option. He can easily stay behind his team to protect himself while in Configuration: Sentry and use his rotary cannon to break through Brigitte’s shield. Once the shield is broken, it makes it that much easier for Bastion and his team to use all of their firepower to focus down the issue on the enemy team and close out the game. Even if Brigitte can heal her allies with a Repair Pack, Bastion can easily get past the extra health without issue.
Something important to keep in mind when playing Bastion into this matchup is that he will have a lot of trouble in a 1v1 versus Brigitte. While he may have a strong advantage from a distance, once she gets close enough she can easily use her Shield Bash to stun him. Then, with his low health, it will be very easy for Brigitte and her team to run him over and take control of an objective. Because of that, Bastion needs to be focusing her down so that she doesn’t get the chance to get that close.
Brigitte counter #2: Junkrat
Junkrat may not be the best hero out there, but surprisingly enough, he is a fairly good hero into Brigitte. This is because of a few reasons. The first is because of his Frag Launcher, which fires explosive rounds that detonate after a short amount of time. These can easily break through Brigitte’s shield, which will leave her and her team exposed and may even force them to retreat. Another reason is because of his Steel Trap and Concussion Mine. Both of these, if used correctly, can stop Brigitte and her team from charging forward with Rally. Then, once one of her teammates is incapacitated, the enemy suddenly becomes much weaker and gives Junkrat and his team the chance to pull out a win.
However, similar to Bastion, Junkrat does not excel in 1v1 combat. Because of that, it is best that he keep his distance from Brigitte so that he doesn’t get caught out. When placing his traps, he should be with a teammate so that he doesn’t get jumped on by the enemy. Even if Junkrat does get caught out, or things are looking bad, using his Total Mayhem on-death passive should be a last resort. While it may be a cheeky way to try and pick up a kill, it is never guaranteed to work and can even end up being a detriment to his own team.
Brigitte counter #1: Mei
Unlike the previous two in this list, Mei doesn’t really want to try and break through Brigitte’s shield or damage her out. Instead, she wants to focus much more on using her crowd control abilities to slow and immobilize Brigitte and her team. With just the threat of using her Endothermic Blaster, Brigitte will have to find a way to stay far enough away from Mei so that she doesn’t get frozen in place while trying to charge or contest an objective. Even if she decides to charge Mei to try and out-damage her, Mei can easily use her Ice Wall or Cryo-Freeze to protect her and wait for backup.
Even if Brigitte uses her Rally ability to charge with her whole team, a simple use of Mei’s Blizzard ability will completely Freeze the enemy team in place. This will negate any advantage they may have tried to get and can allow Mei and her team to clean up their opponents and secure a win.
