The importance of Fortnite 2FA and using Fortnite two-factor authentication grows as you play more. Without it, your account can be easily compromised, and all your progress can be stolen by someone else.
By asking you to enter an extra code when you sign up, Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) will help secure your account from unauthorized entry. After enabling 2FA, you’ll be asked to enter the code from your preferred two-factor authentication form every time you log in, and only after entering the correct code will you be granted access to your account.
How to enable 2FA in Fortnite?
To enable 2FA in Fortnite, simply go to fortnite.com/2FA. Log in to your Epic Games account and scroll down to the Two-Factor Authentication category. You will then notice the option to enable 2FA via a Third-party Authenticator App, SMS, or email. Pick your preferred option and follow the instructions on the screen to enable Fortnite 2FA.
Authenticator App:
If you prefer to use an authenticator app for two-factor verification, here are a few common authenticator apps that you can use:
- Google Authenticator
- LastPass Authenticator
- Microsoft Authenticator
- Authy
To complete 2FA through this method, simply download and install the app on your mobile device. Open it and scan the QR code that appears on the screen. A verification code will appear in the app. Enter this code in your browser and click Activate.
SMS Authentication:
Select your country code and enter your mobile phone number. Shortly after clicking Send Code, you’ll receive a verification code by text. Enter this code in your browser and click Activate
Email Authentication:
Upon selecting this option, an email containing a verification code will be sent to your Epic account address. Enter this code, click Continue, then click Done.
Why Enable 2FA for Fortnite?

All of your obtained umbrellas, emotes, cosmetics, and anything else you’ve paid for will be protected behind an extra secure online wall. Hackers won’t be able to get near it since you control where the message is sent. So even if hackers manage to crack your password, they won’t be sent the 2FA code, preventing them from getting any further.
Apart from the security benefits, activating 2FA will allow you to send and receive gifts in the game, and even take part in competitive Fortnite events. Furthermore, it will grant you access to the Fortnite Boogie Down emote in the Battle Royale mode. If you have Fortnite: Save the World, you’ll also receive 50 Armory Slots, 10 Backpack Slots, and 1 Legendary Troll Stash Llama. These rewards will automatically be awarded to you the next time you log in.
