The Fortnite Championship Series (FNCS) is returning in 2026 with a refreshed competitive format, Duos gameplay, and a massive prize pool exceeding $10,000,000 USD. Epic Games has confirmed three FNCS Majors, two LAN events, and a high-stakes Global Championship to close out the year.
FNCS 2026 Begins With the Trial
The season kicks off on January 31, 2026, with the FNCS Trial. This short-form opening event places players into Divisions based on performance. From there, Duos will compete in Divisional Cups throughout Chapter Seven, aiming to climb to Division 1 (D1), the requirement to qualify for FNCS Majors.
Three FNCS Majors in 2026
FNCS 2026 will feature three Majors, all leading toward the Fortnite Global Championship. Each Major follows the same four-stage structure:
Play-In Stage
The Play-In Stage runs across two days. At the end of the stage, the top-performing Duos advance to Heats:
- Top 150 Duos in EU and NAC
- Top 100 Duos in all other regions
Heat Stage
The Heat Stage features:
- Three Heats in EU and NAC
- Two Heats in other regions
A Victory Royale in Heats guarantees a direct spot in the Major Finals. Additionally:
- Top 10 Duos per Heat in EU and NAC advance
- Top 18 Duos per Heat in other regions advance
Last Chance Qualifier
Each Major includes a Last Chance Qualifier for players who competed in Divisional Cups during Chapter Seven. The top 50 Duos per region move into the Last Chance Lobby, where a single Victory Royale secures a Finals spot.
Major Finals
The Major Finals are a two-day event with 12 total matches. Regional champions earn prize money and wield the Axe of Champions 3.0 throughout the following Battle Royale season.
LAN Events and the Global Championship
Top Duos from the Major 1 Finals will receive invites to the $1,000,000 FNCS Major 1 Summit, a LAN event scheduled for May 2026.
Players can qualify for the Fortnite Global Championship LAN through:
- FNCS Major 1 Summit
- FNCS Major 2 Finals
- FNCS Major 3 Finals
The Global Championship will feature the best Duos in the world competing for a $2,000,000 prize pool and the title of FNCS Champions.
